Main layouts

Every slide starts with one layout. There are six of them.

ClassExpected contentArrangement
title# title, optional ## subtitle, paragraphsCover, content vertically centered
tocOptional title and numbered listTable of contents
chapter# number and ## titleNumber on the left, title on the right
calloutA single short # messageCentered across the full width
contentFree content or structured compositionContent aligned to the top
closing# message, optional paragraphsCentered conclusion

The titles of title, chapter, callout and closing are part of their structure: they do not need with-title. Pagination is hidden on these four layouts, even with paginate: true.

title — cover

md
<!-- _class: title color-2 branded -->

# My presentation

## A subtitle

Name and date

cover shortcut

In the extension, the menu also offers cover: it is a shortcut that inserts title, the name actually recognized by the theme.

toc — table of contents

md
<!-- _class: toc with-title -->

# Contents

1. The context
2. The method
3. The results

chapter — chapter

md
<!-- _class: chapter color-1 -->

# 01

## Understanding the models

A chapter can also contain only a # Title, with no number: it then spans the full width. Avoid adding free content to a numbered chapter: this layout expects two elements.

md
<!-- _class: chapter color-3 -->

# Appendices

callout — key message

A single title, centered horizontally and vertically across the full width of the slide. The text wraps. The backgrounds are those of title.

md
<!-- _class: callout color-2 -->

# One idea to remember

Without a size class, the title is 108 px. The classes callout-size-50 to callout-size-180 (in 5 px steps) set a different size; the extension can automatically pick the largest one that fits. See Overflow and callouts.

md
<!-- _class: callout callout-size-75 color-1 -->

# A longer sentence stays readable when the size is chosen to fit on the slide.

content — content

content alone keeps a vertical flow: headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, code and tables appear in Markdown order.

md
<!-- _class: content with-title -->

# A first idea

An explanatory paragraph.

- A first point
- A second point

It is also the layout that hosts all compositions: columns, image and text, galleries, timelines.

Markdown tables work in the simple flow:

md
<!-- _class: content with-title medium -->

# Comparing the options

| Option | Strength | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Build | Full control | Lead time |
| Buy | Quick start | Customization |
| Combine | Balance | Integration |

closing — conclusion

md
<!-- _class: closing color-2 branded -->
