Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You need to know the basics of Markdown (# headings, - lists, images) and a few classes. The extension suggests the rest as you type.
Do I need an account or an internet connection?
Not to write, preview, check and export: everything is local. A connection is only useful to fetch an organization theme from the portal, and only if you have configured it.
Does the extension use AI?
No. Suggestions, diagnostics, measurements and exports are computed locally, deterministically. An MCP server is being considered for AI agents, but does not exist yet.
Only the portal editor offers an AI assistant (Claude), to fix a CSS theme. It is disabled by default, is enabled per organization and never receives your presentations.
Can I use my own theme?
Yes, whatever its name, if it implements the Core v1 contract. See Creating a compatible theme.
Can colleagues without the extension open my presentations?
Yes. The file is standard Marp Markdown: with Marp (VS Code extension or command line) and the theme's CSS, the rendering is the same. The DWA extension helps you write; it is not needed for display.
marp presentation.md --theme ./DWA.css --pdfWhy isn't theme: DWA enough to load the theme?
Marp does not know where to find an arbitrary CSS from its name alone: it has to be registered. DWA : choisir le thème CSS pour DWA et Marp (choose the CSS theme for DWA and Marp) does it for you in the folder settings.
My text disappears at the bottom of the slide
The theme hides whatever overflows. Look at the Problems panel (source DWA rendu), try medium or small, shorten or split the slide. See Overflow and callouts.
Can I put two images in an image/text slide?
No: the composition expects one image and one block of text. For several images, use a gallery.
Is the PowerPoint export identical to the preview?
Almost. The export displays the presentation with the theme in Chromium, measures each text, image and table, and recreates them as editable PowerPoint objects; the theme's decoration becomes the slide background and its fonts are embedded in the file. Compared in PowerPoint, the difference is 0 to 2 px in text position. See PowerPoint export.
What happens if my access to a theme is revoked?
You can no longer download new versions, but the copy already on your machine remains usable.
Why does the portal reject my theme?
It only publishes themes that pass the validator: every Core v1 class must have an effect, and the CSS must load nothing from outside. Each error indicates its line and a suggested fix.
Where can I report a problem or suggest a class?
To the DWA team. A new class must be added to the language guide, the extension's catalog and the theme; it must never change the meaning of an existing name.
